Why did you become a lawyer?

I was nearing the end of my Bachelor of Commerce days and law seemed to be a natural progression to work in the world of business. It was a great decision.

On August 1, 2012 the Supreme Court of Canada released its decision in Canada v. Craig, 2012 SCC 43 (“Craig”).  It’s good news for farmers, especially those farmers that need to work off the farm to make ends meet.

In West Fraser Mills Ltd. v. BKB Construction Inc., 2012 BCCA 89, the British Columbia Court of Appeal confirmed restrictions upon the ability use certain provisions of the Builders Lien Act, S.B.C. 1997, c. 45 (the “Act”) to remove lien claims from land quickly and economically. The decision is also notable because it casts doubt on a lower court’s finding that removal of equipment of land did not constitute lienable work under the Act.

While it has long been known that whiplash can cause injuries to the cervical spine, a new study confirms that whiplash may also cause brain injury in some cases.
